Human socioeconomic development is threatened worldwide by the loss of biodiversity and the resilience of global ecosystem as a result of global change. Achieving sustainability by ensuring the conservation of biodiversity and the provision of ecosystem services is therefore of paramount importance to our societies, especially in the current context of climate change.
Risk management requires improving our knowledge of how, what and where adaptation solutions should be applied and how the Nature-based Solutions can help us to maximize the natural regulatory capacity of estuarine ecosystems while improving biodiversity conservation.
Why should you study this itinerary?
The training programme will equip students with the basic skills to design and implement Nature-based Solutions (NbS) initiatives in estuaries. This will include targeted training on key principles related to estuarine ecosystem services, risk assessments, and governance.
